Past, present, and future.

ANDREAS:

Well today was the screening and I think the film was well recieved; I hope both Ed and Jack agree!

Ed and I were speaking about continuing the project and ironing all the crease out of the film we currently have. Personally I’d like to make a few changes in order to get the film up to festival entry standard.

If Penny and Jack are up for continuing, that would be grand, but I must point out that there is no real purpose to these tweaks and changes aside personal satisfaction of having a final product with which we are all happy. Let me know if you would like to continue the project in the future, but only if you’re OK with the ammount of work this might end up being.

Hey Ed, as it’s only a few days away, I think you may as well wait to see the film on the day, but for a little taster I made a few stills for you to look over. See you Weds

These are the kinda things ive been scanning. Had something of a brain wave the other week at work. I work at a printing place, and was looking at all the paper that had been guillotined, dilled, holed etc. Some of the finely cut paper looked interesting and using these scraps linked nicely to our word ‘Abscind’.

If nothing else I think some would work well as a light and overexposed background for the main animation to give it more depth, and some of these sharp spikey scans could work with the scratchy tones.

I inversed some, can’t decide whether I prefer the white background or black

scratch tones: 4th version

• No big structural changes since the last version.
• Bigger/longer reverb, so a more washy, slightly richer sound.
• A couple of extra bits of layering over low sounds to make them more dense and damaged sounding.
• A bit of tweaking of the very high sine wave – it now gradually detunes at some points (when it first comes in & at the end), so it has more movement and depth.
• Some processing (fuzz-type distortion effect) of the low sounds at the end to sound more meaty.

Here’s a quick little line test by me. It’s pretty much along the same lines but perhaps a little more hectic!
